Mashups

Mashups are an artform where bits and pieces of various media are collaged together, although the term is most often used to refer to audio remixes combining the music of one song with the vocal tracks of another.

While I have both the ideas and technical skill, I lack the musical background needed to really do the songs well. I have made a few though.

Instead, I mainly pick through and find some of the best ones, and then edit together music videos for them, based on elements of all the videos for the songs used. This usually also requires retuning the playback speed of the various clips to maintain lip-sync and keeps scene changes on beat.

I am usually working on several different projects at any given time. You can see the ones I have completed on the "Mashups" playlist. In a similar vein, I also make music videos based on movies and TV which you can see on the "Fan Videos" playlist.

Other examples of mashups include this page which remixes content from Boing Boing into new articles in the style of a Burroughs 'cut-up.'
